Learning To Paint
More Passion Than Process
Grabbing a paintbrush and a blank canvas, I couldn’t wait to dive into the world of painting! As a complete beginner, I had so much to learn, but the prospect of creating my own artwork filled me with excitement.
First, I had to decide what medium I wanted to work with — oils, acrylics, watercolors? After some research, I settled on acrylics for their versatility and quick-drying properties. Next, I had to choose a subject. Landscapes, portraits, still lifes? The possibilities were endless! I decided to start with a simple still life, arranging some vibrant fruits and flowers on a table.
With my subject selected, it was time to mix colors. I laid out a rainbow of paint colors on my palette, experimenting with different combinations and hues. It was like being a mad scientist, concocting the perfect shades to bring my scene to life. Deep crimsons, sunny yellows, lush greens — I couldn’t get enough.
As I began painting, the canvas came alive under my brushstrokes. I lost track of time, fully immersed in the process of translating what I saw onto the blank surface. Mixing colors, blending, layering — it was both challenging and incredibly rewarding.
